night in 1944 despite their fierce resistance. In memory of the 500,000 Sinti and Roma murdered in Nazi-occupied Europe, the European Parliament declared this date as European Roma Holocaust Memorial Day in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Today we remember them with a letter written by Margarete Bamberger from Auschwitz-Birkenau, one of the most shocking testimonies of the harsh conditions in which thousands of deported and interned Roma
