In eleven months of existence, the Children\u2019s Home welcomed more than a hundred Jewish children. On April 6 1944, 44 of them were rounded up, then deported and assassinated. So the Maison d\u2019Izieu is both a place of tragedy and saving : around sixty children survived.<\/p>\n

Several of them, involved in the association, regularly come to the memorial to participate to commemorations and testify in front of groups. Among them, Samuel Pintel, aged 6 years and a half when he arrived at the Children\u2019s Home in November 1943. Last child to leave Izieu before the roundup, in January 1944, he makes a duty of bearing witness for the 44, all of whom he knew.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
