Commemoration of January 27

Commemoration of January 27

Each year, the Maison d’Izieu commemorates the International day in remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust.

The ceremony is opened to the public, official personalities are invited to deliver speeches and pupils are very often involved – especially to read the names of the 44 children and 6 adults who were deported and assassinated.

The name of the seventh adult and only survivor of the roundup of April 6 1944, Lea Feldblum, is also symbolically pronounced. She was indeed part of the thousands survivors present in the camp when the Red Army discovered Auschwitz on January 27 1945.
