Traveling Exhibition - Childhoods in a World at War

January 30 2025

Inauguration of the exhibition at the Gernika Peace Museum

This temporary exhibition is the result of the complicity and teamwork of several people and institutions in different parts of Europe. On the one hand it is the result of two years of research work within the European project Rememchild, a consortium formed by a team of professional experts from the UNED, URJC, EUROM, Maison d’Izieu, Fondazione Campo Fossoli, EuroClio, ICMEMO-HRI and the Gernika Peace Museum.

On the other hand, it is complemented by several pieces of different origin integrated in the exhibition, seven harpilleras or textile works from different parts of the world belonging to the Conflict Textiles fund from Northern Ireland and 33 works by the artist J.C. Cubino, who through dozens of broken, imperfect, worn-out toys – subsequently transformed into something that makes us think and reflect – wishes to keep wars out of the reach of children.
