Permanent exhibition (Maison d’Izieu Museum)

Opened in 2015

In addition to the visit of the house, the 40 000 annual visitors welcomed at the Maison d’Izieu have access to a valuable permanent exhibition.

The latter is divided into three main themes:

  • “Why were there Jewish children at Izieu ?”: this part is dedicated to the French historical context from the first anti-Semitic laws to deportation.
  • “From Nuremberg to the Hague : judging the criminals”: these rooms are focused on the evolution of international justice from 1945 to nowadays and the concept of crime against humanity in order to understand and prevent it.
  • “Remembrance and its building”: this last part invites the visitors to discover the edification of national remembrance thanks to the Maison d’Izieu’s example.

The entire exhibition is based on numerous archival documents, documentary resources and digital devices.
