5th edition of the Maison d’Izieu Prize

2023 - 2024

Like all memorials to the Second World War, the Maison d’Izieu is faced with the progressive disappearance of witnesses and the need to find new tools to transmit the memory of this period. With the creation of this prize, the Maison d’Izieu hopes to contribute to the reflection and understanding of the present by the younger generations in the light of the past.

The Maison d’Izieu Prize responds to one of the memorial’s missions: “to contribute to the reflection and education of all audiences on crimes against humanity and the circumstances that gave rise to them: totalitarian ideologies, religious extremism, violations of fundamental rights, racial essentialisation, deportations and mass murder”.

The theme of the 2023-2024 edition is “Lettres et dessins d’enfants réfugiés dans les conflits, d’hier et d’aujourd’hui”, giving pupils the opportunity to reflect on the consequences of conflicts of which children were victims in the past and continue to be victims today.
