Commemoration of the 85th anniversary of the bombing of Gernika

On 26th April 1937 the City of Gernika was completely bombed by the German Condor Legion and the Aviazione Legionaria Italiana. For many years (all the Franco dictatorship) nobody could even say that it has been a bombing and and the silence was the only presence of the bombing. The last years, after the recovery of the democracy in Spain and thanks to all the work on memory done by several institutions, specially the City Council of Gernika, the 26th April its is remembered what it happened.

The 85th anniversary of the bombing (2022) was an important anniversary full of cultural events, exhibitions, performances, Gernika Awards for Peace and Reconciliation etc with the involvement of the local and regional institutions, associations, museums on those conmemorations.
