October 21, 2023

On October 14, 1973, the Monument Museum for Political and Racial Deportees in Nazi Extermination Camps was inaugurated in Carpi. In the presence of the highest state authorities, figures from the artistic and cultural world, representatives from European countries, and a crowd of over 40,000 people, one of the most significant museums dedicated to the memory of deportation opened. On its 50th anniversary, the Fossoli Foundation organizes a series of initiatives to commemorate this space designed by the BBPR studio, one of the most prestigious Italian architecture firms, with the involvement of some of the most important figures in Italian culture, including Lica and Albe Steiner.
