The former children of Izieu testifying

Since 1994

In eleven months of existence, the Children’s Home welcomed more than a hundred Jewish children. On April 6 1944, 44 of them were rounded up, then deported and assassinated. So the Maison d’Izieu is both a place of tragedy and saving : around sixty children survived.

Several of them, involved in the association, regularly come to the memorial to participate to commemorations and testify in front of groups. Among them, Samuel Pintel, aged 6 years and a half when he arrived at the Children’s Home in November 1943. Last child to leave Izieu before the roundup, in January 1944, he makes a duty of bearing witness for the 44, all of whom he knew.
