"We played, we had fun, we sang", Words and images from the children of Izieu - 1943-1944

To date “On jouait, on s’amusait, on chantait”, Paroles et images des enfants d’Izieu – 1943-1944 is the reference book about the Children’s Home.

Thanks to archival documents (photos, letters, drawings…) and numerous accounts, this book tells the refugee children’s history and daily life at the Maison d’Izieu until the dramatic roundup of April 6 1944. A few weeks later, Sabine Zlatin, the Home’s director, came back to Izieu to collect the marks left by the children and her husband, Miron. In 1993, she chose to give them to the French national Library.
